TOUR DE HAMPTON: AIR POWER PARK - PROJECT MERCURY ASTRONAUT BRIDGES

9:00 AM brief for a 9:15 AM roll
Location - Air Power Park, 413 W Mercury Blvd., Hampton, VA. Brief at the Project Mercury capsule.
Rest stops: Bluebird Gap Farm.
Started in 1958, at NASA Langley Research Center, Project Mercury was the United States' first manned spacecraft program. Mercury Blvd. and Commander Shepard Blvd. are named for the project and the first American astronaut. Local bridges are named in honor of the other six Project Mercury astronauts. On this ride we will ride over these bridges with brief comments on our nation's first space explorers.

Note: Please bring helmet, full water bottles / hydration pack. Recommend mirror and bell due to traffic, also a lock while we at the Carousel.
