PBA's Annual Rides

Sunday May 1, 2022 - National Bike Month Join/Renew Rides - Tradition Brewing Company, 700 Thimble Shoals Blvd, Newport News, VA

  • Eight, fifteen, twenty-three and thirty-three miles.
  • Rides: Multiple paces/distances with staggered brief/roll between 12 noon to 12:30 PM (B+,B,C,D and Causal).
  • Start the National Bike Month and City Cycling Challenges with a group ride.
  • Join/renew your membership and socialize with others after the ride with a cold one.
  • Note: No fee, but preregistration is required and will open about two weeks before the event.
  • Registration will be on the PBA website with the link sent to members in the weekly email.



Saturday May 28, 2022 - Smithfield Challenge - Windsor Castle Park, 705 Cedar Street, Smithfield, VA

  • Thirty-three, forty-three and fifty miles.
  • Rides: Multiple paces/distances with staggered brief/roll between 9 to 9:30 AM (B+,B,C,D and Causal).
  • After the ride enjoy some "Champagne and Caviar of the South" (i.e. Moon Pie and RC Cola)
  • RideWithGPS route and cue sheets available to download.
  • Note: No fee, but preregistration is required and will open about two weeks before the event.
  • Registration will be on the PBA website with the link sent to members in the weekly email.

    Saturday July 9 2022 -  After the Fourth Ride - PBA Storms the Fort

    • Our Annual After the Fourth of July Ride
    • Rides: Multiple paces/distances with brief/roll TBD (B+,B,C,D and Causal).
    • Note: No fee, but preregistration is required and will open about two weeks before the event.
    • Registration will be on the PBA website with the link sent to members in the weekly email.

    Saturday August 13, 2022 -  Annual Memorial Ice Cream Social and Bike Ride

    • Location: Bethel Recreation Area,  123 Saunders Road, Hampton, VA Pavilion #1
    • Date: Saturday, August 13, 2022, 8 AM - 2 PM
    • Rides: Multiple paces/distances with brief/roll TBD (B+,B,C,D and Causal). Rides will brief and depart from the parking area.
    • We ride in honor of deceased ride leader and other volunteer members of the club: Mark Dulaney, Ron Hafer, Don Hubbard, Bill Nuckols, Jimmy Pereira, Mike Toole and Brian Utne. 
    • This is your opportunity to wear your legacy PBA jersey or T-shirt on the ride and participate in a group photo PBA. At the 2021 event, members wore eleven different jerseys and T-shirts dating back to the early 1980's. Of course we'd also like to see members in our new kit as well.
    • Note: No fee, but preregistration is required and will open on Sunday, July 31, 2022. Registration will be on the PBA website with the link sent to members in the weekly email. 


      Saturday September 10, 2022 - DC Bike Ride

      Join other club members on Washington DC’s biggest celebration of bicycling. This may be most fun you can have on two wheels while on a 20 mile tour of the city’s famous monuments and memorial while the roads are closed to motor vehicles. Finish the ride with music, food and fun activities. The event organizers are offering the club members a discount. Optional ride to Mount Vernon on Sunday morning.
