I found a easy way to have a little "stay cation" on our back yard for a very reasonable price.
We will meet at the Jamestown Settlement about 8:30am for a 9:00am launch time. We will ride the Cap to Cap trail, take a little break along the way (with a lunch that you will need to pack yourself) then continue our journey into Downtown Richmond by 1:00pm. You can pack the clothing you will need for two days in my car and Dan will transport them to our hotel in Richmond.
We have a courtesy block of 10 rooms at the Downtown Richmond Marriott for a price of $139. You can book a room with two doubles and split the cost with a friend. Please directly call Marriott Reservations at 1 (800) 228-9290 or (804) 643-3400 on or before Friday, July 8, 2016, (the “CutOff Date”) to make your sleeping room reservations. Please identify yourselves as part of the Peninsula Bicycling Association Room Block group staying at the Richmond Marriott, located at 500 East Broad Street, Richmond, VA 23219. hotel has been refurbished lately and has a nice restaurant and bar. Once we arrive to Richmond, we can get cleaned up then hit the town for sightseeing, touring or just playing tourist. If you would like to go to the Capital Ale House in the evening, it is .3 miles away. You can check out the hotel at:
Breakfast is not included with the room but they do have a restaurant with a full buffet or there are many others within walking distance. We can leave Richmond after a late breakfast, stop by Cul's Courthouse Cafe for lunch and still make it home easily by 3:00-4:00pm. Possibly sooner, just depends on the group. Again, Dan will meet you at the other end with your personal belongings.
The Convention Center attached to the hotel is having their National Beer Expo the same day as our ride. For more info, go to http://www.nationalbeerexpo.com/schedule.
